Challenge

How can the Design and Treasury guilds work together to make a dry statistics report visually appealing? How to diverge blocks of text into a digestible product?

Outcome

An infographic covering all aspects of the Treasury guilds’ Q4 financial report.

The Bottom Line

The financial report broadly encompasses information about accounting strategies, income-generating products and DAO equity.

In an effort to publish the previous season's financial report, bDAO-native designers were brought into action. The Treasury guild acquired the help necessary to effectively transfer all data into an engaging, visually prominent publication.

Story

For Q4, members of the Treasury decided the financial report should go from a typical scroll-and-read format to lending a hand in getting the picture. Communication was started with the Design guild and requirements were put forward, which were:

  1. Get the project done within a soft deadline of 10 days;

  2. Graphics for each subheading;

  3. A header image.

Members were quick to take up their roles within the team and tasks to do, operatively getting rid of bumps further down the road. A rough framework was set in place and the last thing left was to take action.

Financial report

Composed of footnotes, a balance sheet, income statements and a Statement of Changes, a dozen pages of financial data were to be visualised. Each segment needed to stand out within the finished work, simultaneously fitting into a robust layout.

Visual Design

ARTIST SHOWCASE

@VallentinaC#4102 captured a spacey feel in her header illustration, meanwhile creating alluring graphics for Contributor’s Reward, Sponsorship Revenue sections.

Q: When getting started, you mentioned you haven’t made graphics of this type before. What made you jump in on the project?

A:I love doing graphics and I was looking forward to getting involved in a project like this on bDAO. Initially I thought it would mainly entail creating charts, which I have no experience with  but are something that fascinates me a lot. It turned out my skills with illustration and general graphic design were perfectly suitable.

Q:What difficulties arose creating the project?

A:I think the main difficulties we had initially were linked to the voice call and in understanding each other due to technical issues. Once we started working under JasonTheBestVibe#9577 (with the help of NFThinker🏴#2814 to set everything up), it was smooth sailing. Each of us picked something for contribution and delivered, adjusting accordingly to feedback so everything cohered.

Q:What steps were taken to conceptualise the visual style?

A:We had an initial call with all the people on the team lead by JasonTheBestVibe#9577. By the end, we had briefly discussed the project and chosen to work async. A few examples for inspiration and concepts were shared. I had the idea to go with the space theme and everyone seemed enthusiastic about it.

Alignment with client

With a first iteration completed, the work was sent to the Treasury guild for feedback. The client was happy with the direction of the artwork, and very pleased with the header image. The consistency throughout designs was noted, and some minor adjustments were requested. All final edits and changes were submitted with the project being deemed a success.

Financial Implications

Treasury guild offered an initial sum of 15,000 BANK to be distributed amongst contributors. Project Manager, JasonThebestvibe#9577, was responsible for allocating budget in accordance with the bountied jobs set by the entire team. Treasury guild was very pleased with the overall result and valued the work done at an extra 10,000 BANK. Total payment distributed to team members was 25,000 BANK.
