In the ceaseless spirit of creation in the DAO, we continue to make headway despite the impending holidays. From the EPA’s workflow processes to the Newsletter Team’s growing audiences to the Guild’s Governance Framework, we continue to move forward with our talents in whatever capacity we can find to build the Guild, and to build the DAO. While developers build the protocols upon which we thrive, it is the writers that draw the crowds to these protocols. Together, we will change the world.
Welcome to The Scribe’s Quill.

Governance
The Newsletter team has submitted the Season 3 proposal and will be nominating Project Roles starting this Thursday. There are three roles open for Season 3: Secretary, Weekly Rollup Lead, and State of the DAOs Lead. Role responsibilities can be found in the proposal.
To ensure the quality and continuity of the various newsletter projects, it is expected that Project Role holders will have been active on the Newsletter Team for the entirety of the prior Season. Nominations will be open for seven days, starting 12/23 during the Newsletter Team Sync.
Newsletter Team members cannot nominate themselves. They must be nominated by another Newsletter Team member.
Nominees may accept or deny the nomination. If they accept, they must provide the following:
Contributions to the Newsletter Team
Qualifications for the position
a. Familiarity with project workflow and processes
b. Actively involved in mentoring and training new contributors and onboarding
c. Promotion of DAO culture and valuesWhy they want to be elected
Additional sponsors (preferred, but not required)
When nominated, the Project Coordinator will reach out to nominees and inform them of the process as a part of their responsibilities.
For Project Roles with more than one nomination, we will move to an election process:
Project Roles for which there are multiple nominees will result in an election by way of sesh poll, with voting limited to current Newsletter Team members.
The sesh poll will be active for 72 hours in the #newsletter-general channel. The nominee with the highest number of total votes will be the Project Role holder for the next Season.

Governance
The EPA S3 proposal is up on the forums for review: https://forum.bankless.community/t/editing-publishing-arm-season-3-budget-proposal/2476/6
Take some time to review the changes and offer your feedback. Season 3 is already shaping up to hold a good amount of governance discussions around how the EPA will operate. Set yourself up to be informed and prepared for these discussions by reading the proposal and the running commentary, and participate in the editing and publishing workflow. Your voice matters, and it can be most effective when you’re well informed.

From Your Governance Staff
Samanthaj | Talent Scout
I’ll be stepping down from my role as Talent Scout in Season 3 to focus on building our decentralized publishing house in the EPA. I encourage anyone who wants to run for this position to reach out to me with questions on the role. I’ll still be here to offer a helping hand throughout Season 3 and beyond in the talent scout realm.
A few basics:
Hours per week dedicated to talent scout duties alone: I spend around 12 hours per week doing “Talent scout things.” This estimate includes time spent in most Writers Guild meetings.
Payment: 88,000 BANK per season.
Primary tasks:
Welcoming and onboarding new members (typically done through DMs and office hours)
Administering and evaluating writing and editing tests, holding weekly office hours
Answering questions through DMs
Attending talent scout knowledge-sharing sessions and First Quest “new joiner talks”
Setting up voice syncs with members on an as-needed basis
Assigning guest passes when they expire
Helping new members get their footing on their first few projects
Fielding inner-DAO questions for work and talent needs.
Things that could make your life easier in S3 (which I am happy to help with):
Distributing workload of writing and editing test evaluation
Re-defining the scope of writing tests so they best reflect the unique needs of Newsletter and Client Services
Having a defined process for when inner-DAO work comes in
Building out a “First Quest” for the Writers Guild that eliminates some of the endless DMing (it’s A LOT of DMing)
Some qualities that will make you well-suited for this role (not saying I’m all of these—this is the ideal talent scout, imo):
Enjoy talking to new people—whether through DMs or voice syncs
Very organized or have a good memory (I tend to lean on the latter, which I don’t recommend)
Comfortable with evaluating others’ writing at a “high level” and giving kind, thoughtful rejections
Okay with being tagged in a ton of different places when you open Discord (more than our “normal” amount of being tagged in a ton of different places)
Big fan of tipping new people and spreading BANK around
Okay with some monotony (evaluating tests, sending very similar DMs)
TLDR: Being a talent scout is fun and rewarding, but be prepared for a lot of DMing and a lot of test evaluation. This role is still very young—I created it just in Season 2. I’m happy to help iterate and redesign it with whoever steps in the door next. I believe this will be a gradual handoff. I already have a very large google doc of info for whoever wants to run for this position :) DM me for access to the document!

The Writers Guild multi-sig is looking nice after the recent price movement. The physical quantity of our tokens haven’t changed, but the value of our treasury has increased 40% since the treasury update 2 weeks ago!
BANK: $20,330.57 → $29,353.69 (+44.38%)
DAI: $1,167.14 → $1,167.38 (+0.02%)
PERP: $556.79 → $418.07 (-24.91%)
USDC $29.98 → $30.09 (+0.37%)
There are some new members who have passed the writer’s test this week. Let’s congratulate the newest writers Kasia and hackr! Kasia submitted her piece on the influencer economy and why the word "influencer" is a dirty word these days. hackr provided his piece on DeFi taking on Wall Street and I heard he did so at record speeds!
We also have 3 new editors! Kasia is now a primary editor and Thalia_M and Cheetah are secondary editors. Congratulations and welcome to the team!! Our next remuneration is approaching soon. Ap0ll0517 will be reaching out to those newest members to gather their addresses to receive BANK. Happy writing until then!

We are getting ready to pull into Season 3 with a BANG! Our governance framework is shaping up well, and our processes are slowly coming together. If you are carrying a Writers Guild tag, please make your voice heard by contributing your thoughts and ideas to the governance doc here. Though we still have much work to do in fine-tuning the document, much of the groundwork has already been laid, as discussed by Frogmonkee in the last edition of the Scribe’s Quill.
Furthermore, we have two polls up in the writers-polls channel to ratify Ap0ll0 as Guild Secretary and myself as Guild Coordinator for Season 3. The polls will be up for 48 hours, after which the nomination period will begin for the Talent Scout role and either position being ratified in which a “nay” vote was cast.
All that aside, take time this holiday season to appreciate all the work you’ve done this year, work that you did professionally, relationally, and the work you did on yourself. All of it matters. In a time when we ought to be sharing and celebrating each other, don’t forget to celebrate yourself as well.
Thank you for all of your time, attention, and energy. The Writers Guild would not be what it has become without you. Keep your hand down to the writing and your eyes to the horizon as we work together to blaze a new path forward for all of humanity.
In service to you, the Guild, and the DAO,
