The Scribe's Quill | March 21, 2022

banklessdaoupdates.substack.com

Dearest Pupils, Scribblers, and Scribes,

This is a rather light edition, as many are preparing for Season 4. Included here are links to our ongoing elections, updates from the EPA, and an important consideration regarding the future of the Guild. To use a phrase coined by our beloved Hirokennely, many of us who remain during this market lull are Bear Market Builders. It’s important to consider where to place your building energy.

Welcome to The Scribe’s Quill.

This is the official newsletter of the BanklessDAO Writers Guild. If you would like to receive this newsletter in your inbox, please tap or click on that subscribe button below.

Welcome to the Writers Guild

You are part and parcel in the creation of the single most powerful decentralized publishing house in Web3. And we’re still early. If you are joining us for the first time, please take some time to check in with our Talent Scout, FreedomFighter, to find the best placement on our team. This includes partaking of writing and editing tests. And worry not if you fail! We are here as a team to help all of our current and prospective members level up.

Team Updates

EPA, Samanthaj | Coordinator

Hey, EPA! I just have three quick calls to action for you:

  1. Join the Bankless Publishing Murmur group with this link.

  2. DM me to shadow the EPA Coordinator role and explore options in the EPA for next season.

  3. Take the Editing Mentorship test to become a mentee and get paid in BANK for your work. Instructions and further details can be found in this recent message in #epa-general. The google doc to paste into a NEW document is here (please don’t edit on this document).

That’s all from me, I’ll see ya around!

From Your Coordination Team

nonsense šŸ“ | Coordinator

The energy is shifting as crypto moves into a bear market. The energy coming off the hype of a growing market has begun to dissipate as the market settles into its latest correction. What remains is the quiet buzz of those who remain and continue to build.

The tale around the campfire is that this is the time to really put your head down and build. I’m of two minds on this idea. Is this a really great time to build? Yes, it is. And if you’re building, and your head is in the work, keep building.

However, I also think this is a good time for reflection. It’s a good time to consider all the underlying motivations that drive your work. It’s a good time to weigh the costs and benefits that come out of the work you’re doing. It’s a good time to think deeply about whether or not your level of activity is sustainable in the long term. And it’s a good time to determine what all of these factors add up to.

This is an opportunity to determine where your boundaries lie, and what ought to take priority in your life. Remember, you are not the DAO, and you are not the Guild. Find your identity in yourself, and take care of yourself first, before committing yourself to work that has the potential to consume you.

Being sick over the weekend gave me time to contemplate these things, and what I’ve determined is that the level at which I have been operating in Season 3 is no where near the levels at which I operated in Seasons 0 through 2. Burnout has caught up to me, and in the interest of doing what makes the most sense for both myself and the Guild, I have decided I will not be participating in the upcoming election for Guild Coordinator.

We have incredible, brilliant, vibrant, and intelligent members who are capable of taking up the mantle of Guild Coordinator. I wish whoever takes the role naught but all the success in taking Bankless Publishing to new heights. The talent that flows through this organization is wonderful, leaving me full of confidence that the next person to step in will do a far better job than I.

The foundation has been laid, and a way has been prepared. The future looks bright for the Guild.

In service to you, the Guild, and the DAO,
